In consideration of my perpetual failure to blog in a timely manner, this will be the last blog in which I mention my inability to maintain a regular blog.
Life is great. Life is grand.
We have moved into a new home. Long gone is the condo in Clareview. This September saw the end of an era. Clareview was the longest place I had lived in my life. It saw toga parties, broken hearts and typical college broke bank accounts.
Time to grow up I guess.
We've moved to a new house on the south side. I am amazed how the face of a city changes so dramatically based upon which neighbourhood you live in. Long gone are the tired faces in overcrowded Superstore, and here are the faces of suburbia. The lawns are still made of dirt. We are surrounded by undeveloped land. Honestly, we are almost in Leduc. At least it feels that way.
I love it.
This is the first time I have lived in a house with a garage. The first time in a decade that I have had a dishwasher. I am living the high life!
I also had knee surgery last week. I managed to wreck my other ACL earlier this year, and 9 months later met with the "butcher block" to fix what ails me.
I'm in pain, when I'm not on epic pain killers.
This experience has taught me a couple things. Firstly, only when you see two how the same procedure changes over the span of 14 years can you truly appreciate the significant leaps and bounds made by the medical profession. My experience in 2011 makes what happened to me in the 90s look like blood letting. Secondly, I am reminded (a reminder badly needed) of how important my health is. Time to work towards being able to snorkel in Maui in December!!!
Another realization - how many amazing friends I have. A great heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who has supported me in the past couple months with all of life's changes. I am truly blessed to have people who care enough about me to come visit after my surgery, pretend my jokes are funny, and pretend they don't mind when I projectile vomit (a disgusting and often surprising side-effect of anesthesia).
Thank you all - you are truly amazing!
So there, a brief update. I make no promises respecting the next one!
