February already

Wow, 2011 is already 8% complete. And what a year it has been already! As you can tell, I am in such a state of busyness and excitement that I haven't been able to blog about it... or I've just been watching lots of TV and reading David Copperfield.

The year is going well so far. I got the "marmot special" at Jasper a few weeks ago. Otherwise known as a torn ligament (or two) in my knee. Apparently doing a pirouette at the bottom of the ski hill with my skis still wasn't the best idea I've ever had, right up there with juggling axes. I am waiting for an MRI in March to determine the exact extent that I have damaged myself. Today was my first Physio appointment. Totally brought back memories as I did the exact same routine that I once did as a child to my other knee. I don't think I will require surgery, though recuperating will take awhile. This gives me a great opportunity to focus my running on the fundamentals, and start again this spring one step at a time.

Totally going to Palm Springs in two weeks with Granny and T.J. That's right, I'm taking my 78 year old grandmother on her first flight in approximately 20 years. I am looking forward to it like I have looked forward to no other vacation. We are going to visit my parents, and do completely nothing for one whole week (though T.J. and I will likely hit Universal Studios for our own mini vacations).

Painting pottery on Whyte has become my new past-time. Jordan and I went last week with Annie, Angela and Ryan. Ryan is painting the best cup ever! I am working on a polka-dotted fish. What a great way of spending Fridays! I find I tire of it easily, but that if I don't push myself, I can actually paint up a good piece. I'm sure Jordan's cupcake piggy bank is going to look awesome!

I am watching Egypt with much curiosity. I hope that our tour guide, Amadeus, and his family are safe. I think that there is a lot left to change in Egypt before it all settles down. I got a kick out of CBC reporting though. Talk about being desperate for a story, and unbiased reporting my ass. Today I watched their mini special on how the uprising has resulted in a stop of smuggling to Gaza. Then the special went on to discuss the poor smugglers, and how they are struggling to make ends meet. Really?

Well, off to bed. Tomorrow is another day. Sweet dreams world!
