OK - now we get to the real focus of this blog (yep, you guessed it, there is no focus). My thoughts for the day:
1. I have never seen this much snow before in my life. There are drifts taller than me. I need a dog sled to get to work. I white-knuckle drive like it's going out of style. And of course, Edmontonians take this opportunity to drive worse than normal, patterns which include failing to use their signal lights (to save batter power you know) and drive 30 km/h on clear roads because the snow drifts on the sidewalks actually have a gravitational force that poses a significant threat to vehicles making use of the otherwise normal asphalt.

1.1. Christmas was good. Decorating our tree almost caused an earthquake of a fight. Narrowly escaped unscathed from the Christmas Tree Crisis of '10.
2. I have been well traveled for work lately. I like small town life. Everyone knows your name. The drive is really long though.
3. I am off to Palm Springs in February/March for one week. My travel companion? GRANDMA! You betcha - I'm hauling around a 78 year old on her first airplane ride since I was in diapers. I am excited. I think we will have a great time! Going to see my parents there. I hear there is lots of golf, and they have a private pool. May even do a day trip to Disneyland... Who am I kidding? I'll be off to Universal Studios!

3.1. New Years' at our house was awesome. So much for the Drink my house dry offer though - almost 20 people, and we still barely made a dent in the stash T.J. and (mainly) I have accumulated over the years. I guess that is what you get for rarely drinking, yet collecting the stuff. We all toasted to 2011 with shots of the gold schnapps I picked up in Austria in 2009. Good stuff.
4. Hubby and I got a new bed delivered today. It is awesome. You know you have moved up in the world when you are finally rid of the futon mattress.
5. You know, I don't expect earth-shattering things from 2011. I guess in comparison to 2010, I will probably never have another year as full of life-changing events. That's ok. It's time to settle in with the day to day business of living. I do, however, expect that lots of babies will be born (or at least get started) to various family and friends. I also expect that Hubby will attend most Oilers' games. Though my initial plan was to run the 1/2 in Vancouver in May, that is no longer the plan. I want to run outside. Not snowshoe. I'll be looking for another run in the fall (perhaps even the Vegas 1/2 again next year!)
Well, with that drivel it's time for bed. Almost the weekend and Scottney's engagement party. Yep, Hubby and I are both on Scott's side of what I am sure to be an epic wedding!
Adios!
